Honorable Mentions: The parallel relationships between Akko and Diana’s and Ursula/Chariot and Croix.

Honorable Mention:

  • The Royal Tutor
    • It’s the most underrated show of the season. Every other show I’ve watched this season blew it out of the water and it ended up become forgettable. Regardless, what it presented had some very good messages. Oh boy, what an feel good. I can totally get why the manga creator cried at the last episode–anime original ending too.
  • Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic
    • Absolutely fantastic movie for what I consider the best arc in the entire Black Butler series. Totally worth driving an hour away and watching it in the movie theaters.

Surprises of the Season:

Saekano S2 –  Was expecting the same feeling as S1, turned into one hell of a character drama show.

Little Witch Academia – Randomly decided to repick it up when it had more episodes. There hasn’t been a single episode where I didn’t not fully enjoy the show.

Attack on Titan S2 – Enjoyed S2 way more than S1 due to its change in direction…and the fact that like Eren got very little screen time.

Disappointments of the Season:

WorldEnd – I was expecting more out of the show, given that I’ve read the first volume and really liked it. However, the dramatic beats felt…odd at times.

Clockwork Planet – Another let down in comparison to the light novel, wasn’t as engaging as I hoped it would be and the character designs and aesthetics are just so unappealing.

Overall Thoughts on the Season – I’m quite happy with how this season turned out. Most of what I followed were very exciting and looked forward to them throughout the week. Saturdays were a blast with AoT, Re:Creators, My Hero Academia, and Eromanga Sensei airing on the same day and Sakura Quest, Saekano, and Armed Girls Machiavellism keep me entertained during the weekdays. I’m looking forward to next season’s shows, and luckily Sakura Quest, Re:Creators, and My Hero Academia are continuing as well.
